Handmade Glass Tray Featuring Antique Dennison Crepe Paper Panel
Circa 1915–1930
An authentic Dennison Manufacturing Co. crepe paper panel, mounted and preserved beneath glass, presented here as a functional tray. The design is especially notable: a skeletal figure forms a border around the panel, enclosing a vivid tableau of a witch dancing with a skeleton while a black cat and fallen candle complete the composition.
Dennison’s Halloween crepe decorations are among the most collectible examples of American holiday ephemera. While jack-o’-lanterns and cats were common motifs, panels featuring full skeletons in figural scenes are considerably rarer. This piece exemplifies the macabre whimsy Dennison was known for, combining humor with haunting imagery.
Framed within a black wood tray and fitted with brushed metal handles, the work elevates fragile ephemera into a sturdy, display-worthy artifact.
